About
At its core, Sign Fold was an experiment in reimagining the 7-Eleven sign as a blanket, challenging the notion of a ubiquitous symbol of convenience as a source of comfort.
Constructed from heat-formed plastic, Sign Fold consists of six vacuum-formed sections that are riveted together to replicate the iconic three-bar design of the 7-Eleven sign – a symbol that has become synonymous with 24/7 accessibility. By molding the sign into a hood-like shape, I aimed to evoke the impression of a body beneath a blanket, subverting the sign's original purpose and inviting new interpretations.
This sculpture was originally presented alongside an interactive animation that explored the economics of art-making, allowing viewers to manipulate the data and gain insight into the complexities of creative production. The animation can be seen here.
